How do I find the
AMA?
The Arlington Museum of Art is located at 201 West Main Street in old
downtown Arlington. The museum is housed in a 1950's former JC Penney
store art moderne building. Visit our directions page for an area
map and driving directions.

Is there an admission
charge to the museum?
Admission to the museum is always free. Suggested donations are
$2 for adults and $1 for children.

Do you offer tours?
The AMA offers a variety of tours. Most tours are free. Visitors can
take a self-guided tours via the handouts available at the reception
desk. Self-guided tours are available in both children and adult
formats. Guided tours are available with AMA staff for groups
of five or larger. Call the AMA's Education office at 817-275-4600
to schedule a guided tour.

Is the museum handicapped
accessible?
Parking and sidewalk ramps are available at both the Main Street and
Gene Allen Park entrances. An elevator serves all levels from the new
rooftop to the lower level Education Center. Restrooms are accessible
and are on the first floor and mezzanine floors. Those with special
needs can make arrangements in advance by calling the museum at (817)
275-4600..

What do you offer
for children?
The AMA offers a variety of free and tuition-based programs for kids
and families throughout the year. Programs include Saturdays at the
Museum, Smart Art Birthday Parties, Art Around the Corner, Youth Art
Encounters, Summer Art Camp, Summer Art Around the Corner, Junior Docents
and new adult and children art classes on evenings and weekends during
the school year. You'll find full details in our Education area.

How can I become
involved in the museum?
The AMA invites you to become a member. Members expand
their knowledge about contemporary art in an informal
setting. Members receive
special benefits, including discounts on museum programs
and invitations to members' only exhibition openings
and other
special events.
You
can also volunteer
at the AMA. Your time and expertise can be helpful in
a number
of areas, and you will have the opportunity to learn
more about contemporary
art
in the process. Contact the Membership/Volunteer Coordinator
at (817) 275 4600 for more information on membership
or volunteering at the
museum.

Are family art
activities offered at the museum on the weekends?
Yes, the museum has a program one Saturday a month during September May
from 10 am - 12 noon. Books & Art Saturdays start at the downtown
branch of the Arlington Public Library with a children's story, and
conclude at the museum with an art-making activity related to the book.
Artivity Workshop Saturdays start at the AMA. An artist tied to the
current exhibition leads families in a guided tour of the show, followed
by an art-making activity in the studio education area. The last Sunday
of each month finds family-friendly informal poetry readings from 1:00
- 3:00 PM. All activities are free. You'll find full details in our Programs
and Events area.

How can I learn
more about contemporary Texas art?
Visit the museum often. Attend the free, informal gallery
talks and artist lectures. Come to exhibitions at
the AMA and take
the self-guided
tours.
Or ask a volunteer or staff member for a tour.

Can I rent the
museum for weddings and parties?
The museum is one of the area's most popular and unique locations for
weddings, birthday and office parties, and business meetings. The museum
is available for rental after normal operating hours on Friday and
Saturday evenings, and in some cases on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays,
when the museum is closed to the public. In addition, the museum's
new rooftop space is often available for rental during normal museum
operating hours. The museum is not available for evening rentals during
the month of October. Local community groups and non-profits may be
eligible for a discount. Please call the museum at (817)-275-4600 and
speak to the Event Coordinator for full details.

Does the museum
have a Haunted House?
Every October the museum hosts the top-rated Dungeon
of Doom haunted house, held in the basement (of
course!) of
the museum.
Adults,
families, school groups and clubs, and children
over the age of 11 are welcome.
Contact the museum if you would like to volunteer
as a ticket taker or actor for this year's Dungeon of Doom.

Unfortunately, the AMA cannot offer appraisal services. Contact your
local phone listings for qualified professionals or visit the International
