Saturdays at the Museum
A free program for children ages 8 - 12, that encourages families to engage in creative activities together. Happening during the school year, SAM is free and open to the community. SAM has two components: Saturday Art-Ventures! and the Artivity Workshop.

Saturday Art-Ventures! is a collaborative effort between the AMA and the Arlington Central Public Library. This popular program combines children's literature and art-making into one fun-filled morning. Families Begin with storytelling in the museum’s amphitheatre, then continue in the classrooms with an artist-led activity. Parents and children interact while creating original artwork.

Artivity Workshop sessions give children and families an opportunity to tour the current exhibition, then participate in an activity with a professional artist. Kids receive an interactive Artivity Guide workbook to assist them in discovering the artwork. This guide furnishes helpful vocabulary, facts, and questions about the exhibitions, taking children on a "scavenger hunt" throughout the museum.
